Zebras - Disney Animals
Zebras at Walt Disney World Resort
Native to Sub-Saharan Africa, zebras can be found in shrublands, savannas, mountains and plains. Some species participate in one of the world’s largest animal migrations each year, traveling across the Serengeti—an African superhighway for thousands of animals in search of better grazing.
You may see a dazzle (herd) of zebras on Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park and on the lush savannas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Home Away From Home
Here’s a look inside the life of a zebra at Walt Disney World Resort:
- Graze for Days: Our zebras enjoy a diet rich in fresh vegetation, similar to what they’d eat in the wild. Special snacks are placed throughout the habitat to encourage the zebras to forage and graze.
- Enriching Experiences: New scents and objects are introduced to the habitat—a way to encourage the zebras to investigate.
- Healthy Actions: Favorite foods are used to encourage the zebras to practice hoof-health behaviors and participate in physical screenings. They’re even trained to stand on a scale!
